A New Way to Care for Our Common Home

Meet the new Saint Bernadette and Saint Mary Academy Creation Care Team and discover a simple way to put faith into action.

Saint Bernadette and Saint Mary Academy are launching a shared Creation Care Team (CCT), rooted in Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and our Catholic call to be thoughtful, faithful stewards of God’s gifts.

What does that mean? It means putting faith into practical action—in our parish, school, homes, and community. Care for creation is also care for people: our neighbors, our children, and generations still to come.

Together, the church and school are also launching a pilot program to earn a recognition for steps we jointly take together to continue the work

WHAT MIGHT WE DO?

• Visit the Creation Care website and mark it as a favorite.

• Learn to recycle “properly”

• Use more reusable or recyclable materials at parish activities.

• Help with campus cleanups, litter pickup, and the school pollinator garden.

• Support education, planning, and review of our current practices.

• Enjoy participating in some of the planned “Fun” activities

• Participate in the efforts to attain the diocesan recognition

• Help a ministry, committee or family ask one simple question: “What is one practical improvement we can make?”

• Invite a friend to join us.

EVERYONE CAN HELP.

Join the team. Volunteer for a one-time project. Bring an idea to a ministry or committee you already serve. Or simply try one new practice at home with your family. Small efforts matter—especially when they help our children see that faith and stewardship belong together.

As members of the Saint Bernadette Catholic Church community, we prayerfully pledge to honor God our Creator by caring for the gift of creation entrusted to us.

Inspired by Laudato Si’ and guided by the teachings of Pope Francis, we commit ourselves to:

• Educate our hearts, minds, and families about the sacred responsibility of stewardship.

• Protect our common home by choosing sustainable, renewable, and responsible practices.

• Serve our neighbors—especially the poor and vulnerable—through strong and growing social ministries.

• Act with hope and faith for the sake of our children and future generations.

With trust in the Holy Spirit, we pledge to live this call with faith, humility, and love. - Amen.
